Jessica, a 2008 graduate of Immokalee High School, left last week for Michigan State University. She and several of her classmates will attend Michigan State in East Lansing through a program designed specifically for migrant students.
The Michigan State University College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) was initiated in 2000 and is funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The program is one of 45 in the nation and accepts 50 students to the program each year.”*

Cuban native makes sock monkeys for love as well as money - Dulce VanDyken in Michigan

One of Dulce VanDyken’s earliest craft memories dates back to her childhood in Cuba, watching her mother sew custom brassieres.
“I used to sit under her sewing machine and pick up all her brassiere scraps,” she said, recalling how she would then move to her own sewing area across the room and make little bras for Barbie dolls.
“I used to sell them to the neighborhood kids for a quarter,” she said, laughing.”*
